2) Turn boys and girls on to books and then use good old synthetic phonics to teach young children to read just like the hundreds of thousands of us learned in earlier decades. It isn’t rocket science. I don’t know if your kids’ instructors have a collection of books that your kids will not be inclined to put down, but I’ve put together a website full of verified books that kids really enjoy. I’m not saying every book on my list is just right for every single youngster. Nonetheless there are books for every stage and for just about every personal taste.
